Brampton Abbotts is a small scattered hamlete about two miles north of Ross. Until recently it was a self-contained community with a school, a post-office and shop but sadly, as is the case with so many other rural communities, these have all disappeared..
The Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels is a beautiful, restored Norman Church dated about 1100AD. It is adjacent to a trig point and remains the focal point of the area and commands extensive views to all points of the compass except the north-east. And the footpaths from Ross to the Church and back to Ross along the Wye Walk provide a pleasant and not too energetic walk.
