History of the Benefice of Ross with Walford

The Benefice had its beginnings in 2009 when the Ross Team Ministry was dissolved. The Team Ministry comprised the parishes of Ross-on-Wye, Bridstow, Peterstow, Brampton Abbotts, Lea, Hope Mansel, Weston-under-Penyard (previously grouped together) and Aston Ingham, Linton and Upton Bishop. In 2002 the parishes of Walford, Sollershope, How Caple and Foy were added. In 2009 The Benefice of Ross with Walford was formed.

People have lived in our parishes over many centuries. There is an ancient bridge in the Walford parish and Roman remains under the Prospect in Ross.

All our churches are ancient, most having been built originally in the thirteenth century.

See information on our Parish Records.
