The parish lies south of the A40 between Weston-under-Penyard and The Lea. The nearest town is Ross-on-Wye 4 miles to the north.
The church and the village hall are the two focal public buildings in the parish. They are located in the Hope Mansel valley to the west of the parish.
The village hall holds three regular social events in the year; the village fete, harvest supper and a Christmas social evening, and it is available for private hire.
The village hall held a popular Queen's Jubilee Party in June 2002 and several community fund-raising supper parties have been held in the village in recent years.
The church has held four successful craft and flower festivals since 2000.
A Neighbourhood Watch scheme was set up in 1997.
