Sollershope is the most northerly of the parishes in the Deanery of Ross and Archenfield. “Hope” is a Saxon word meaning a high enclosed valley and Sollershope lies between the 736 feet high north-south Marcle Ridge to the east and Capler Hill to the west. Oldbury Camp at the southern end of the Ridge and Capler Camp. commanding wonderful views of the River Wye, were both Ancient Briton Camps or Iron-Age Forts.

The valley has several mixed farms, with sheep and cattle, orchards of apples, cider apples and perry pears and old meadows, arable fields and woodland, with brooks draining from the Woolhope Dome and Marcle Ridge.

Sollershope lies 10 miles south east of Hereford, 6½ miles north of Ross-on-Wye and 7 miles west of Ledbury.
