Bell-ringing
A small band of bell-ringers gather to practice on alternate Wednesdays in the church tower, some are experienced and some are learning how to ring. The long-term plan is to develop a band from within the local parishes and for ringing to take place on the bells at Aston Ingham, Linton and Upton Bishop, particularly for celebratory services and weddings etc. At present the band is not large enough to make this possible and new and/or returning ringers would be most welcome to help them achieve their aim. It is possible to learn how to ring from 10 years upward; height being more important than age and an ability to climb the stairs is the only top age limitation! Ringing is a matter of technique rather than strength so almost anyone can give it a try.
Why not come along one Wednesday, dates and times are in the Chimes Magazine and in church porches, or telephone Brenda Robbins on 01989-750425 for more information – you might enjoy it!
