The rural Parish of Walford is situated in the Wye Valley, which is a designated area of outstanding beauty, bordering the River Wye, attracting many visitors each year. The population is approximately 900 people of varying ages, living in clusters of houses and more scattered dwellings, both old and new. Facilities include a primary school, a youth hut, village hall, an inn with restaurant, a guest house, and bed & breakfast accommodations. There are local businesses providing employment, with the main industry being farming. As it is an excellent commuting area, many people travel distances to work. The parish church of St. Michael and All Angels is of considerable antiquity, parts of which date back to the 12 th century.
